SOG Recondo FX Knife Key Features
- Blade Steel: CRYO 440C stainless steel, cryogenically treated to achieve a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58-60. Cryo treatment refines the grain structure of the steel, improving edge retention and overall toughness compared to conventionally heat-treated 440C.
- Black Titanium Nitride (TiNi) Finish: A hard physical vapour deposition coating applied to the blade surface. TiNi significantly increases surface hardness and provides outstanding resistance to corrosion and wear, particularly useful in wet or coastal environments.
- Clip Point Blade Shape: The classic clip point profile offers a controllable, fine tip suited to detail work and piercing tasks, with enough belly for slicing. Blade thickness is 0.16 inches (4.1mm), giving a solid cross-section without adding unnecessary weight.
- Full-Tang Construction: The blade steel runs the full length of the handle, meaning the knife is one continuous piece of metal. This eliminates any weak joint between blade and handle and is the most structurally sound configuration available in a fixed blade.
- Overmolded Rubberized Grip: The handle material is moulded directly over the tang, creating a secure, textured grip that maintains control across wet, bloody, or muddy conditions. The ergonomic shaping accommodates multiple grip angles without fatigue.
- Kydex Sheath with UMS Compatibility: The injection-moulded Kydex sheath is ambidextrous and compatible with SOG's Universal Mounting System (UMS), allowing for a wide range of carry configurations and mounting positions to suit different pack setups and preferences.
- Tool-Less Tension Adjustment: The sheath retention can be dialled in without any tools, so you can set the draw pressure to exactly what suits you in the field. Tighter for active movement, easier release for quick access — adjusted on the fly.
