    Dive Computers

Spearfishing watches are technical computer watches that automatically calculate crucial aspects of a dive, such as bottom time, depth, and surface interval times. These dive computer watches help monitor your performance and ensure safe diving, with Garmin being a popular brand.

Features of most spearfishing and freediving watches include tracking total dives, dive time, depth, personal records, date, time, surface interval times, configurable alarms, descending depth alarms, and more. Many dive computers also come with software to download dive stats to your home computer, allowing you to monitor your progress.

While not everyone thinks a dive computer watch is essential for freediving, the most common cause of blackouts, or worse, is due to cutting surface intervals short. Holding your breath increases carbon dioxide levels, as breathing removes CO2. High levels of CO2 can lead to blackouts. Ideally, your surface interval should be three times the duration of your dive, but when hunting fish, you might not have three minutes to wait before diving again. Continuously diving without adequate surface intervals is extremely dangerous, and a watch that reminds you of your surface interval is a crucial safety tool for any diver.
