Meet Our Panellists

Melanie Kirley

Raised in a hunting family, Melanie has spent nearly 30 years stalking Victoria’s high country for sambar, red deer and other free-range game. Blending disciplined range practice, back-country fitness, and a sustainable field-to-fork mindset, she and her partner now run an outdoor media agency that challenges stereotypes and inspires new hunters. Whether glassing alpine gullies or mentoring first-timers, Mel’s passion is ethical hunting that nourishes both people and the landscape

Rachel Lynch

Rachel only recently picked up a compound bow, but she’s already found herself hooked. Introduced to hunting by her husband, it didn’t take long before weekends in the bush became a regular part of life. Her first solo rut hunt stands out as a defining moment. Being out there alone, learning as she went, gave her a real sense of purpose and confidence.

Off the field, Rachel runs Dog & Gun Coffee with her husband, where they celebrate the field to fork lifestyle and help more people feel at home in the outdoors. She’s passionate about encouraging other women to get involved and believes the best way to learn is to ask questions, back yourself and jump in.

Karla Pound

Karla is a zoologist-turned-outback guide who has spent years mastering Australia’s toughest country—milking funnel-web spiders, wrangling saltwater crocs and foraging bush tucker on remote expeditions. A former Kimberley ranger and commercial helicopter pilot, she teams aerial reconnaissance with sharp fieldcraft to track game and read country. After proving her grit as a contestant on the survival series Lone Survivor, she now distils practical survival tactics and ethical hunting skills for anyone keen to thrive off-grid.
