Named in honour of founders Mauro and Roberta Perazzi and the year the company was established (1957), the MR57 represents a genuine evolution rather than a cosmetic refresh, built around a newly engineered tri-alloy steel barrel produced entirely in-house and a redesigned low-inertia receiver that draws on the same proven internal locking architecture as the MX8, MX12, and High Tech models. The result is a competition Trap gun engineered from the ground up for shot-to-shot consistency, with a slight rearward weight bias that makes the gun feel nimble and fast in the hand without sacrificing the stability required for demanding Trap discipline shooting. Every MR57 is handmade in Brescia, Italy, and the level of fit, finish, and available customisation reflects exactly what you would expect at this level of the market.

Perazzi MR57 Trap 12G 78cm Break-Action Shotgun Key Features

Calibre and Chamber: Chambered in 12 gauge with a 76mm (3") chamber, accepting a full range of standard and magnum Trap loads including steel-shot ammunition, with CIP fleur-de-lis steel-shot proof certification in place since 2020.

Barrel Length and Bore: 78cm barrel with a bore diameter of 18.4mm or 18.6mm depending on configuration. The longer barrel delivers the extended sighting plane and smooth swing characteristics preferred in Trap shooting.

Tri-Alloy Steel Barrels: Newly engineered barrels produced entirely in-house at the Perazzi factory. The proprietary alloy composition is designed to deliver consistent wall thickness and superior durability while contributing to the gun's refined balance and handling dynamics.

Rib Configuration: 11x11mm flat rib in Trap configuration with ventilated or half-ventilated side ribs. The rib geometry flows cleanly through the pillar design in a visually distinctive manner, with bead setup available to the shooter's preference.

Thin-Wall Choke System: Perazzi manufactures its own 8cm thin-wall chokes and lengthened forcing cones in-house. These are engineered to replicate the exact weight, balance, and handling characteristics of fixed-choke barrels, so there is no compromise in feel when switching between choke options. Fixed choke configurations are also available.

Low-Inertia Redesigned Receiver: Built off the proven MX platform with the same internal locking system and interchangeable internal components including springs, hammers, and firing pins as the MX8, MX12, and High Tech models. The redesigned receiver features a lower centre of gravity that promotes smoother barrel movement and reduces fatigue across extended shooting sessions.

Trigger System: Fixed or detachable trigger group with coil spring triggers. The detachable system allows for rapid servicing or configuration changes between disciplines without specialised tooling.

Weight and Balance: Approximate weight of 3.85kg with a deliberate rearward weight bias engineered into the platform. This balance point makes the gun feel faster and more responsive during target transitions while maintaining the stability required for consistent Trap performance.

Hand-Selected Walnut Stock: The stock and forend are crafted from hand-selected walnut and fitted to the individual shooter. Options include adjustable combs, custom stock dimensions, multiple wood grades, and custom engraving. The forend design is shaped around natural gun movement and positive control.

Finish Options: Available in nickel-plated or blued receiver finish, with the clean angled lines of the MR57 receiver lending a bold, modern aesthetic that distinguishes the platform from previous Perazzi generations.

Customisation Depth: Extensive configuration options spanning stock dimensions, rib and side rib setup, bead arrangement, wood grade, and finish. The MR57 is also offered across Trap, Skeet, and Sporting disciplines, with each configuration purpose-built for its intended use.

The MR57 is the kind of gun that serious competitive shooters and passionate clay enthusiasts commission rather than simply purchase, and with the depth of customisation Perazzi offers, no two are identical.
